Armed Security Guard (Maryland)

 

Job requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Currently possess a Maryland Handgun Permit or be able to obtain one
  • Clean criminal record
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • Must be able to work any day and any shift, which includes days, evening, midnights, weekends and holidays
  • Must currently possess a valid Maryland Guard Card/License

 

Job Description:

  • Conduct armed security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle
  • Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
  • Sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons
  • Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, trespassing, etc.
  • Prevent crimes from occurring on the property
  • Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure that authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate client requirements
  • Investigate and prepare reports and log entries on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities
  • Provide assistance in a courteous and professional manner
  • This position may require you to work inside and outside in all types of weather

The Ideal Candidate will possess the following:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in any discipline preferred
  • Mace/OC/Pepper Spray, Baton, Taser, Defensive Tactics, and Handcuffing certifications preferred
  • Service in the active duty military, military reserves or National Guard
  • Service in auxiliary police or police cadets
  • Meaningful and verifiable work history
  • Minimum of one year verifiable and successful security experience, preferably armed

Unarmed Security Guard

(MD, PA, DC, VA, CO)
Responsibilities

Primary function of the Unarmed Security Guard is to secure and protect our client’s property, personnel and assets. Security Guards will be required to stand for prolonged periods of time, provide superior customer service, and to conduct security patrols, either on foot or in a vehicle. Guards will provide access control to the premises. This position may require you to work outside in all types of weather, to remain vigilant and on post at all times, to report for every shift on time and in proper uniform.

 

Excellent communications skills are necessary. Provide a visible presence as a deterrent for crimes against the Client, which include crimes of violence, crimes against property, threats, trespassing, vandalism, theft, or other criminal activity on the Client’s property. Observe and report any incident, crime, or infraction occurring on the property to the proper law enforcement authority, the Client, and GCSSS Management. Issue and enforce trespass warnings against unwanted individuals. Escort personnel to and from the property to parking areas. Utilize Security Guard’s authority as an agent for the Client/property when necessary to citizen arrest, detain, and call police if a crime is committed. Enforce property rules, guidelines and procedures as established by the Client.

 

Qualifications
• Three or more years of security experience, military or law enforcement preferred
• Valid State or Local Jurisdiction Security Guard License/Certification
• Valid State Driver’s License

  • Clean criminal record
    • Accredited High School Diploma/GED
    • Minimum 18 years of age
    • Able to work any day and shift, including overnights
    • Ability to effectively communicate in writing
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
